3x Short Hikes in Te Anu // Located near Waitomo (╯✧∇✧)╯

As the black water rafting trip got cancelled, we had half a day to pretty much do another hike, so we headed off to do some short hikes nearby. The first one went to was the Mangapohue Natural Bridge hike.

The pathway and bridge were kept in good condition so it was easy to find the track instantly. It is a family friendly track so you can definitely bring your baby stroller here.

The natural bridge is a 17m high limestone arch; the remains of an ancient cave system.

This hike is a super easy 5 minute stroll to the base of the natural bridge (wheelchair accessible), or continue along the track for a 20 minute loop walk that takes in superb views of the natural bridge and gorge, stalactite-like formations, farmland and 25 million year old fossilised oysters that are exposed in the limestone outcrops.
However we decided to turn back once we took some photos at the farmlands as we saw on the map the next 15 minute hike would have similar sceneries.

Next we visited Marokopa Falls, and it is one of the must see waterfall sites in New Zealand. It was spectacular and we could feel the small water particles fly into our faces as it charged towards the bottom.

Then we took another scenic nature hike, called the Piripiri Cave Scenic Reserve, which was abundant in colourful orange mushrooms. I had to take a photo and honestly New Zealand needs no filters or editing at all!!

Once we got to the cave, it was pitch black and our phone flash light was not strong enough to allow us to descend. However we were lucky enough that another hiker had a camping flash light to go down for us and I was able to take a photo of what the inside of the cave looked like! So amazing and lucky too!

After all those adventurous hikes and enjoying nature, we finally went and got some food! We had dinner at Curlys Bar which is family friendly restaurant too, and you get to see one of the best sunsets view here too.

The food was served fresh and hot and generous portions too! We got their seafood tempura platter and chicken schnitzel. After dinner we headed back to our accommodation for an early night in!

HELLO HELLO! Sorry I haven't been blogging much these days, I have been busy with work and assignments so I just hadn't had time to do all the editing and writing. As for today, I pretty much just stayed at home in bed, because it is so cold now, applying for full time positions! I cannot believe I have to take the call for adult life now! Anyway I just hope things will go well and there is no delay with finding a full time position!

Washoku Lovers invites me to Suminoya // Japanese Yakiniku Restaurant ヾ(*´∀`*)ノ

Yesterday I was invited by Washoku Lovers to do a review at the Suminoya restaurant, located in Martin Place. Suminoya is known to be an authentic Japanese BBQ restaurant since the year 2000 and is affiliated with other well known Japanese BBQ restaurant such as Rengaya (still my #1 favourite Jap BBQ place) and Koh-ya, in Randwick.

1 Hosking Place, Sydney 2000

Dinner: Mon-Fri: 6pm - 10:30pm, Sat & Sun: 5:30pm - 10pm

Suminoya Japanese Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

I actually had already been to this restaurant for the first time about 2 months ago, for my friends' birthday dinner, so I roughly knew what to expect. As for today, I decided to invite my dearest childhood friend Stephy to come eat with me!

This time round, we had the pleasure to try out Suminoya's lunch menu where we ordered the "12 piece salmon sashimi($19.90)" and 2 sets of the "3 Choice Charcoal BBQ (AUD$24.90)".

First, we had the 12 piece salmon sashimi which was served fresh, while they played Jazz music in the background to make your experience more enjoyable and relaxed.

Once we had finished our sashimi, we were then served our main lunch meal for the day. Our 3 choice charcoal sets also included rice, miso soup and salad.

We had ordered 2x Beef tongue, wagyu beef loin, wagyu beef harami, wagyu beef rib fingers and pork belly, which were all well marinated and had a reasonable serving portion too!

Each meat dish will vary in time when it comes to cooking them to perfection, as it will depend what 'cut' you are cooking. For example, the Beef tongue only needs a minute or less to cook both side until lightly toasted. This will leave the meat super juicy and tender and tastes even better with the BBQ sauce that is provided.

Additionally the all-you-can-eat buffet dinner menu is very popular for a casual and affordable dining session with friends. It offers a wide variety of dishes from their a la carte and bbq menu. A few of of my favourites are listed and shown below!

Yukke- well marinated and tender too!

Eel Rice- my all time favourite Japanese dish! I had to have more than just one of these!

Today's Slushie- we got grape flavour the night we went for my friend's birthday dinner! Yummy and flavourful! Perfect to freshen up your taste palette!!

Salmon Sashimi- how can I not order this! Salmon is one of my favourite fish to eat!

ICE-CREAM!!-You have to try their black sesame ice-cream, as it is packed with that aromatic sesame taste!! The green tea is also super good too, so if you're not a fan of black sesame, green tea is the way to go!

It was quite a chilly day yesterday, which made it perfect to warm ourselves up with Japanese BBQ. I had a lovely time with Stephy as we both enjoyed our delicious lunch meal and the staff were super friendly and attentive too. Although this post is sponsored by Washoku Lovers and Suminoya, I would recommend this place based on my personal experience as the ingredients that they use are all fresh and delicious! I would definitely recommend trying their Seafood & Yakiniku dinner buffet menu if you want to get a taste of everything!

Also join Washoku Lovers today to receive multiply benefits at participating Japanese restaurants around Sydney and Melbourne! E.G. At Suminoya you will receive an extra dish of your choice for the Charcoal BBQ meal(Mon-Wed). A huge thank you to both the Washoku Lovers team and Suminoya team for inviting me and my friend to enjoy the food with such a wonderful experience!!

Touring the home of the Glowworms // Waitomo Glowworm Cave o(*≧□≦)o

The day of our Waitomo Glow worm cave tour it was also a gloomy sort of day. We were going to be black water rafting in the caves but due to the weather the activity was cancelled so we postponed it for tomorrow and booked another tour instead.

We did the walk in the Ruakuri Cave ("Rua" means den and "kuri" means dog). It shows the amazing engineering and natural cave structures. There are adifferent limestone formations and crystal tapestries and you can see some glow worms too!

During the beginning of our tour we had to walk down this spiral pathway and as we walked, our tour guide started whistling and singing and the sounds were amazing! The sounds just echo throughout the room and is so incredible!

The formations of the limestone were pretty cool, but it is forbidden to touch them as they may snap and break off, plus you will be fined!

Additionally, water runs through these caves which is why it is damp and will find some water running past or trickling from above.

Did you know glowworms are carnivorous and will eat their siblings in order to survive! Also the bits that glow are actually their poop! Plus when they become a fly, they only have 24 hours (if I remember correctly) to find a mate and reproduce, as that is their life purpose.
Hello my loves! I apologize that I didn't get anything up last night as I was having a late dinner at the boyfriends place and was too tired to blog anything. However today I shall get a full on productive day going! I have so much I want to do and also need to do!
